Hello everyone,
It appears that I will be having an afternoon meeting every Friday, while the students are at swimming, so I will be unable to update Friday Folders at that time. For that reason I will be sending Friday Folders home on Mondays - I can update them during their math activity on Monday morning. Please sign it and return on Tuesday. I apologize for any inconvenience.
The Commissioner of Education will be coming to the Holland on Thursday, October 10th from 6:30 - 8:30 to hear members of the Holland staff and community speak. As you know, the commissioner will determine our school's turnaround status and it is important that we show solidarity and support for the Holland. Please come to this important discussion if you can. Ten people have been chosen to speak, and I will be speaking on behalf of our teachers.
Copies of my homework policy were sent home with your child. If you have not had time to review it, the basics are as follows:
I take ten minutes out of each day to write the homework on the board and hand the homework to each student. In addition, I purchased a binder for each child to keep the homework in, and I provide an opportunity to ask questions or ask for clarification. If your child chooses not to write it down or put it in the binder at that time, then the consequence is a zero grade.
I want to thank you for your continued support of our work at the Holland. Last year's third graders show significance progress on the MCAS from the prior year, and in fact our third graders outperformed the district in math. I know we will continue to grow and progress this year! ~ Mrs. Mark

Copies of my homework policy were sent home with your child. If you have not had time to review it, the basics are as follows:
- Missing homework is marked as a zero. Homework with no name on it is also marked zero.
- Students have until the following Monday to turn in homework. After that time, it remains a zero.
- I do not replace missing copies of homework. It remains a zero and will affect his/her grades.
- I do not have students do missing homework at recess. It is to be done at home.
