We had another wonderful week in third grade! Two of our friends, Anthony & Jeffery, have moved to other parts of the state/country. We wish them well and will miss them both! We moved our seats around on Friday, and hopefully this new arrangement will cut down on the amount of side talking going on in class...
Please remember that swimming is not an optional class. Many students are not bringing their swimsuits. Even if your child has a new hairdo, he or she must attend swimming unless excused by a doctor's note. Physical activities are not only great for your child's physical fitness, they also contribute to a happier and healthier
brain :) If you do not have a swimsuit for your child, please contact me and I will try and get one for him/her.
The parent engagement activity that was originally on the calendar for next week has been cancelled. Please remember that you are always welcome to volunteer in our classroom by going to the Volunteer page on this site. You must have an approved CORI form on file before working with the children. This can be obtained at the school office.
One of your child's nightly assignments is to read for 20 minutes and write a short summary of the text. There is a lot of research that shows that students who do not read each night will not reach grade level. Please ensure that your child reads every night and sign the reading log to indicate that it was completed. If your child did not read, please do not sign and they will read during recess or an activity. If this continues we will meet to figure out how we can fit this into your evening.
Pretty soon the weather will be changing and we will have more indoor recesses. If you have any age-appropriate board or card games at your home that are no longer used and in good condition I would love to have them for indoor recess. Thank you! Go Sox and Pats! ~ Mrs. Mark
