My apologies, everyone, as it appears that my post from last week did not upload and ended up in the "drafts" file. I hope that you are doing well and enjoyed the taste of spring that we had last week. Our students even got to go out for recess one day, which was a great treat. I'm looking forward to the days when they can get out and play every day! As always, please visit our Volunteer page to join us in the classroom at any time.
Please remember that Monday is a holiday, and students will not have school in honor of Evacuation Day. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 18th. Students should be in their seats at 7:30 a.m. More and more students are arriving late and missing our math lesson each day due to tardiness, and in fact 9 out of 24 students were late each day last week. Please make every effort to have your child to school on time.
Also, a reminder that there are no more "grab and go" breakfasts this year. The policy set in September is that breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. - 7:20 a.m. If your child arrives after 7:20 they will not be offered breakfast - the only exception to this rule is if they arrive on a late bus.
Your child will take his/her first MCAS examination on March 26th and 28th. The ELA examination will last approximately 2-3 hours. As you know, students must pass MCAS to graduate from high school, and so we want to cultivate a positive test-taking experience in the elementary grades. Please make sure that your child gets a good night sleep the night before the test and eats a healthy breakfast. I will provide a healthy snack during the test to help keep their brains working! You will receive your child's scores from the state in October.
I will be taking the children to the public library in the coming weeks to begin a month-long investigation into a topic of his/her choosing. If you are interested in helping walk the children to the library please mark the "chaperone" box on the form when it is sent home.
As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
